Sewn boards binding is a modern adaptation of a traditional method of board attachment. With this particular structure, the covers are composed of folios of thin card stock and are sewn to the text block. Then, book boards are glued to the card stock before the spine piece is attached and the covers wrapped. The final form of the book is similar to a modern case bound book. However, when opening the book, the full spine of the text block is revealed.
This tutorial also includes instructions for doing the Weaver’s Knot.
